Petite Junk Journal Tutorial Listed in My Shop!

Hi Everyone!  Happy Thursday!  I hope you are having a fabulous week so far!  I wanted to share with you my first Tutorial that I am offering in my Etsy Shop!  I have worked very hard to provide you with detailed VIDEO instruction, rather than a written tutorial.  This is a video series containing over 2 hours of instruction.  I go over, cover to cover, how to create the journal shown below.

I show you how to make the cover, add the fabric to the spine, how to add pages, how to make three different pocket styles, how I sew my doily tucks and how I coffee dye them, how to add the closure, how I dye my seam binding, and I share tips and techniques that I use regularly in my junk journals.

This journal is 5x5 inches with a 2-5/8 inch spine.  It has 108 total pages, counting front and back sides.  Video is listed below the photos.

Photo Heavy Post! One journal and new sets of Sentimental Book Plates

Hi Everyone!  I hope you all had a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by today.  I have a journal and some new sets of Sentimental Book Plates to share with you.  I have a little catching up to do, don't I?  So this post will be photo heavy!  This journal was a custom order and filled with lots of love and extras!  It originated from this custom order listing I have in my shop.  It measured 8-3/4 x 5-3/4 inches with a 2-3/4 inch spine.
I used the Miss Lady Fay Printable Journal Kit again from Ephemera's Vintage Garden.  This is such a gorgeous collection!  I also used the set of journal pages that coordinates with that kit.
I recycled a pasta box to use for the cover.  The spine is covered with a cotton twill fabric.

I added an extra notepad with the journaling pages from the main kit and tucked the pad into a pocket on the front inside cover.
This pocket is made of dictionary page and parchment paper.

This is a perpetual calendar that I made up and tucked into a pocket on the back inside cover.

So that's the journal!  Here are the new Book Plates I have listed in my shop.
I have a promotion on these book plates!  But any three sets and receive the set pictured BELOW, FREE!  You can see all of my sets here.

Here is the video on the journal...

And the video on the book plates promotion....

Thank you again for stopping by today!  I hope to see you again soon!

Creative Team Project for Ephemera's Vintage Garden~Junk Journal

Happy Thursday, Everyone!  Thank you so much for stopping by!  Today I have a Creative Team Project for Ephemera's Vintage Garden!  I am using Miss Lady Fay for the next couple of months and let me tell you, this kit is GORGEOUS; not to mention I absolutely love magnolias!

I used an old book that I picked up at a thrift store, and took all the pages out of it.  I was left with just the cover.  I stained it with several colors and then sealed it.  The image on the front is one of the pages included in the kit.  I sewed around the edges and left the threads hanging off to give it that shabby look.  I added a seam binding bow and a flower charm to the spine as well as a seam binding closure.  All of the seam binding I hand dyed.
It measures 6-1/4 x 9-1/2 inches and the spine is 1 inch.  It has 3 sewn-in signatures.  There are 78 pages, counting front and back, 23 pockets, 21 tuck spots, and 1 envelope on the inside back cover.

All of the pages have been hand-dyed as well.  There is stitching throughout, with many decorative elements such as lace, and trim.

This journal comes with 8 hand dyed tags; 4 of them are stamped, and the other 4 are left blank so that you many decorate them any way you wish.
Again, thank you so very much for visiting me today!  I really appreciate it!  Have a wonderful day!

File Folder Junk Journal - New Listing Later Today! - Photo Heavy Post!

Hi Everyone!  Thanks for stopping by today.  I wanted to share my newest journal with you made from a file folder (as the cover), with coffee dyed paper, scrapbook paper, and digital images from Ephemera's Vintage Garden.  You can find the set I used here.
This Journal is 5-3/4" inches wide and 8-1/2 inches tall, with a 1-1/2" spine.  It has 90 pages counting front and back sides.  There is a lot of room for journaling, adding memorabilia and photos.  The spine is covered with chocolate brown duct tape.  I used hand dyed seam binding on the spine, crocheted trim along the spine, and a gorgeous image from the Mushrooms and Birds ATC Set.

The closure is an elastic band that goes around a double layered button.

In the photo below, there is a pocket on the inside front cover.

There are several tuck spots through this journal.  The photo below shows a corner pocket I created with layers of hand dyed elements; book page, parchment paper, doily and banner.  All of the tuck spots have been sewn along the edges.

Pictured below is the center of the first signature.  There is a large pocket on the right page, and 3 small paper sacks with tags on the left page.
Here are the tags on that page.

Pictured below, is the second set of paper sacks included in this journal.

Pictured below, is the 3rd set of paper sacks included in this journal.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  This journal will be listed in my Etsy shop later today, so keep an eye out for that if you're interested!  There will also be a video today as well.  Have a wonderful Friday!
